About Paul

Paul lives in Kent with his wife, son, and his old pal Tonka the dog!

Originally a freelance photographer, like many, Paul found himself abruptly out of work as the whole country came to a sudden halt due to the first Lockdown in 2020. It was during this period he re-discovered his flair for illustration after sketching daily with his young son. Having not drawn since his school days, he was unaware of the passion it would ignite and the life changing opportunities it would create! Paul has been on an incredible journey of recognition and self-discovery and has already been chosen for some exciting projects and commissions for a number of recognised authors, organisations, and projects.

In 2021 he partnered with globally recognised award winning author Amanda Prowse on a series of children’s books. These were  released for sale in September 2021 as hard back and electronic versions and have been a huge success.

He has also worked with various charities designing a "Christmas Card"  as a one-off special to help support Pubs who struggled over the 2020 Covid outbreak (lead by Tom Kerridge). This was available for purchase through Moonpig and other reputable online companies as well as being promoted within all national news media and television.

He was commissioned to design the artwork for a charity single “Wish You a Very Merry Christmas” for Children with Cancer, available through their website and I-tunes.

Furthermore, Paul is in discussion with other authors and organisations to provide illustrations for their novels and projects as well as more stories he has written and illustrated. Watch this space!

A few words from Paul….

"I work in the traditional medium of pencil crayon and ink. I love to create those ‘aaah moments’ with my work, taking you back to childhood and warm memories of bedtime reading. I hope my personality, imagination, and love for story telling is apparent through

my work and I can't wait to share this passion with you!" Paul Ward Smith
